The University of Toronto has officially launched UTsend, a secure and user-friendly file transfer service designed to support faculty, librarians, and staff in sharing confidential information with internal and external collaborators.
UTsend is the recommended platform for transferring Level 4 data, including sensitive information such as:
- Social Insurance Numbers
- Banking and insurance details
- Payroll and tax forms
- Usernames and passwords
- Any personally identifiable information (PII)
Unlike email, UTsend ensures that all files are encrypted, authenticated, and virus-scanned, providing a secure alternative for sending and receiving sensitive content. The service also supports large file transfers up to 29 GB, with files hosted for 14 days.
Please note: UTsend is not intended for long-term storage and users should download and store files appropriately after transfer.
To get started, visit https://send.utoronto.ca and log in using your UTORid and UTORMFA credentials.
